Authors of the 20th Century

Directly after the denouement of the Second World War people commenced to consider that the world’s essential principles are plain and logical . Both general politics and social relations were depending on the ideas of development, good changes , trust in science , awareness , technological advancement , and the ability to explain any phenomenon from a logical point of view . Nevertheless , starting from the second half of the 60’s, the world has begun to degrade and now , 40 years thereafter , we live in a transformed type of reality .
We without any problems mark all innovations which are brought to us by new technology, but we rarely come to realize the fact that there are certain ideas standing behind those technological solutions. The nature of the future change was at first noticed by those people, who as a rule lived anteceding their time – writers and authors. Among the many authors whose works have served for entertainment , there have been a few who have given people a new picture of the future . They have better than others other authors shaped and worded new thoughts and have ultimately molded a fresh intellectual and perceptual analysis of the future. They have found problems in the mundane of our lives and have unveiled a set of problems, which were dragging on without being spotted . They have helped us to become aware of the new challenges , and have given us new ambitions .
These were the authors who have determined the mindset of the entire generation, which has observed the period of drastic change; change, which was seen as disarray at the dawn of the 21 first century. They have made us focus our attention to the most vital dilemmas of the previous epoch ; those questions , which the people , having survived through the world wars and unprecedented sufferings , was afraid to deal with . Lastly they were voicing the main question “What will our future be like?”

In this work we will mention some of the most famous authors of the 20th century. They have all quite impacted literature of their period, have revealed trends and problems which were relevant to their people and the period they existed in, and have motivated the audience think about the real set of values, having them understand that it is far away from being ideal. One of the most interesting feature of their work is that in mostly they have risen the people attention in books and written works. from this angle one of the most exciting success stories is that of a brilliant author John Cheever.

The achievement of Joan Rowling can be considered phenomenal as she has become the first author in the world to earn $1 billion by authoring fairytales. She is currently spending a extensive part of her earnings on charity, fighting poverty and diseases. The plot of the book was invented while she was on the train from Manchester to London. When the publisher has first decided to print her book, she has awarded her 1500 pounds together with a loving advice — to find a stable job. He was unaware of the fact that the young writer would be able to make money of writing. Joann has proved the opposite - having produced a series of amazing fairytales, she has motivated the so-called non-reading people get back to reading.

This work is not able to enumerate and more or less accurately list all authors who have given their gift to the nowadays literature. They have been working and presenting ideas directly into the heads of the millions, and in this way were influencing the future. Thus, as we can see, these writers were not creating for enjoyment only, but they were also playing a considerable part in creating the culture and the perception of a society of the 20th century.
